Arsenal have recalled defender Katie Reid from her dual-registration spell with Barclays Women’s Championship club Watford.
Watford revealed the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
Reid was one of three Arsenal youngsters to join Watford on dual-registration terms ahead of the 2023/2024 season. The player has made 10 appearances for The Golden Girls in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
Jonas Eidevall recently spoke about his hopes for Reid to become a future first team player at Arsenal and The North Londoners have now made the decision to call time on the youngster’s development opportunity at Watford.
Reflecting on Reid’s contribution at Watford, head coach Damon Lathrope said “We are all over the moon for Katie. She’s a fantastic footballer, and a top-class human being.
“She deserves all of the opportunities that come her way.”
Upon her return to parent club Arsenal, Reid has received an immediate reward for her hard work. The Gunners boss Eidevall has named the teenager in his matchday squad for this afternoon’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Reid is set to start the game on the bench.
Reid’s Arsenal teammates Michelle Agyemang and Laila Harbert remain at Watford as they further their development.
