Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says that her side are expecting an incredibly tough test from Leicester City at The King Power Stadium this weekend.

The Blues travel to the East Midlands looking to bounce back from a 1-0 home defeat to Barclays Women’s Super League title rivals Manchester City last time out.

Chelsea cannot afford any further slip ups but manager Hayes believes that this weekend’s fixture at Leicester City is anything but an easy assignment.

“Leicester commit the most amount of fouls in the league and they’re a team that will disrupt you in any 50-50,” Hayes said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “If you get away or escape pressure, they’ll foul, so I hope that the officials will be switched on to a game that will be disturbed by that momentum.

“Willie [Kirk] has done a really good job putting that team together. The quality that he is adding to it, I think Leicester will be a team on the rise. When you go there, you know that every team will get a difficult game.”

Hayes went on to say that she has quickly moved on from the Manchester City defeat and that the focus is now solely on this weekend’s fixture.

She said “Everybody gets beaten, I accept that and as always, it’s about the learnings that you take from it.

“There wasn’t much in the game but whatever it took for us to win [the title] last year, it certainly has to be more than that this year, that’s clear to me.

“Everyone is back in and I’m not one to stew over anything to be honest, life’s too short. I’m just looking forward to the weekend.”

Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Leicester City kicks-off at 6pm on Sunday evening.
