Sunderland midfielder Natasha Fenton has signed a new two-year contract with the Barclays Women’s Championship title hopefuls.

The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Fenton joined Sunderland last summer after leaving former club Blackburn Rovers and the player has gone on to be a big hit on Wearside. The midfielder has played every minute for Sunderland in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship while she has scored one league goal.

The 25-year-old is a hugely important member of the Sunderland team and the club have shown no hesitation in agreeing a new long-term contract with her.

After signing her new contract, Fenton said “I’m absolutely delighted to extend my stay here. It was a no-brainer when the offer came through in terms of building for the future and building on what I believe is a good foundation for this season. The girls and the staff have been absolutely fantastic and I definitely feel really settled here.”

Fenton will next pull on a Sunderland shirt when the club travel to Princes Park to face London City Lionesses on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Black Cats are currently top of the table with five games left to play.
