Arsenal have announced the departure of veteran French goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi.

The Gunners confirmed the news via a post on their official club X account late last night.

Bouhaddi signed a short-term contract with The Gunners at the end of January. The player was brought in by head coach Jonas Eidevall to cover for the absence of Canadian international goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo who has been away representing her country at the Concacaf W Gold Cup.

In her short time at Arsenal, Bouhaddi was named amongst the substitutes on five occasions, although she never appeared for the club on the pitch.

Fellow goalkeeper D’Angelo has recently returned to the club following her time away and the decision has been made to allow Bouhaddi to leave upon the expiry of her short-term contact with Arsenal.

Manuela Zinsberger and D’Angelo are now set to battle it out for the starting place in goal for Sunday’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final against Chelsea at Molineux. The Gunners could also include young goalkeeper Naomi Williams in their matchday squad. The teenager is yet to make a senior appearance for Arsenal but she has been in and around the squad this season.
