Barclays Women’s Super League high-flyers Liverpool are being linked with a move for Canadian international midfielder Olivia Smith.

The 19-year-old currently plays her football in the Portuguese top flight with Sporting CP.

Smith is under contract with The Lions until summer 2026, however, Portuguese media outlet A BOLA have reported that the player could seal a move to Liverpool this summer with a six-figure transfer fee potentially being paid to secure her services.

Liverpool’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Arsenal have also been paired with Smith, however, those transfer links seem very weak at this stage.

After spending her youth playing for a number of academy sides, Smith joined Florida-based college team Penn State Nittany Lions. After graduating, the midfielder started her senior career with Canadian club North Toronto Nitros in 2022. Smith joined current club Sporting CP last summer and she has earned rave reviews for her performances in her first year in Portugal, the player scooping various Player of the Season awards.

Should a transfer to Liverpool come to fruition, Smith would be joining one of the most progressive clubs in the Barclays Women’s Super League. After playing Barclays Women’s Championship football just two years ago, Matt Beard’s side ended their latest campaign in fourth position in the Barclays Super League table.
