Sunderland forward Emily Scarr has signed a contract extension with the club.

The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

It has been reported that Scarr’s new deal is a two-year arrangement which will keep her at The Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground until the end of the 2025/2026 campaign.

Scarr has been on Sunderland’s books for four years after joining the club from neighbours Middlesbrough in summer 2020. She initially helped Sunderland to gain promotion back to the elite game before going on to score 19 goals in 49 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

The forward has struck fear into opposition defenders during her time on Wearside and the club will be pleased to have her onboard for two more years.

After signing her new deal with Sunderland, Scarr said “I’m really happy. I definitely feel like this is the place for me to progress and develop as a player. I’ve loved it here, I love my teammates and the coaches, so I’m really glad I’ve signed.”

Scarr joins Natasha Fenton, Jessica Brown, Megan Borthwick and Megan Beer in signing new terms with Sunderland ahead of next season. She will be hoping to help the club again challenge for promotion in 2024/2025.
