Chelsea sign Spanish midfielder Bartel on three-year deal

Chelsea have completed the signing of Spanish youth international midfielder Júlia Bartel on a three-year deal with the option of a further year.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this morning.

The 20-year-old midfielder joins the South West Londoners from Spanish giants FC Barcelona where she has spent all of her senior career to date. Bartel started out in Barcelona’s B Team before going on to represent the first team on a handful of occasions.

On the international stage, Bartel has represented Spain at various youth levels. She is currently a member of the Spain Under-23 side. Bartel has previously won both the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship with her country.

Bartel is one for the future at new club Chelsea. She is someone who has the potential to become a world-class star in the coming years.

After joining The Blues, Bartel said “I am very happy to be here at Chelsea. It’s one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I am very excited to be part of this club.”

Bartel becomes Chelsea’s first signing of the summer transfer window. The South West Londoners are expected to be busy in the transfer market in the coming days with other potential deals thought to be nearing completion.
