Former Bristol City midfielder Sarah Stratigakis has joined French club AS Saint-Étienne on a free transfer.

The Greens announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 25-year-old Canadian international midfielder joins the Arkema Première Ligue side after leaving former club Bristol City earlier this summer. Stratigakis spent the second half of last season with The Robins after joining the club in the January transfer window. The player made six appearances for Bristol City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

In addition to Bristol City, Stratigakis has also turned out for Aurora FC, Oakville Blue Devils FC and Vittsjö GIK in her senior career to date.

After sealing her move to Saint-Étienne, Stratigakis said “I am very happy to join ASSE, an emblematic club. I had excellent discussions with the coach, a very good first contact with my new teammates, so it’s a good start.

“I’m now going to discover French football and the Arkema Première Ligue, a tough championship with high-quality players. I’m delighted.”

Details of Stratigakis’ contract with Saint-Étienne have been left undisclosed, however, it is thought that the midfielder has initially signed on with the French club for the 2024/2025 season.
