Everton have completed the signing of French international forward Kelly Gago from FC Nantes.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this morning.
The 25-year-old will join Everton when the transfer window re-opens on 1 January 2025. It has been reported that the Merseyside club have paid an undisclosed fee to secure Gago’s services.
Gago started her career in her native France with VGA Saint-Maur before enjoying a successful spell with Saint-Étienne. A move to Italian side Sampdoria followed before the forward joined latest club FC Nantes.
On the international stage, Gago made her senior debut for France in October and she has two caps to her name for Les Bleues.
After joining Everton, Gago said “My strengths are my speed, my physical presence, my power, and I can bring all of that to the team. I protect the ball well and like to keep possession of the ball. I also like to feature in the play with the women alongside me in my team, and most of all, I like scoring goals.
“I chose to come and play for Everton as I liked what Brian [Sørensen] had to say and how his team plays. The way they attack as one and defend as one is what made me want to sign for this team and to help achieve the Club’s goals.”
Gago is Everton’s first signing of what could turn out to be a very busy Janaury transfer window.
