Chelsea have revealed the news that goalkeeper Zećira Mušović is pregnant and she will therefore be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Mušović’s final appearance prior to her pregnancy was in last week’s 5-0 Subway Women’s League Cup quarter-final win against Durham therefore it is fair to say that the player will now be sidelined until at least early 2026.

The 28-year-old Swedish international keeper is expected to follow a light fitness programme at Cobham in the early stages of her pregnancy but she will not be involved in any contact training. The player will receive the full support of the club throughout her pregnancy.

While Mušović will be sidelined for more than nine months, Chelsea continue to boast a very competitive goalkeeping department. First-choice goalkeeper Hannah Hampton is in good form while young Dutch international stopper Femke Liefting arrived at the club last week and she will provide competition in-between the sticks during Mušović’s absence. Youngster Katie Cox is also a member of the senior squad.

Chelsea continue their season with a Subway Women’s League Cup semi-final tie against West Ham United at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening.
