Sunderland have completed the signing of former Newcastle United player Hannah Greenwood on a free transfer.
The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Greenwood was one of 12 players to have left Newcastle United at the end of last season. She spent two seasons with the club, helping The Magpies to win the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title and establish themselves in Barclays WSL2. Greenwood made 48 appearances for The Magpies in all competitions while she scored five goals.
With Greenwood being a free agent, she recently joined Sunderland on trial and the player has done enough to earn herself a deal on Wearside.
After sealing her move to Sunderland, Greenwood said “I’ve been around the Club for over a week, my teammates have been amazing and I can’t wait to get to know them more. I’m really excited to be here and I just can’t wait to get going.”
Greenwood is Sunderland’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window. She joins Rhiannon Roberts, Reanna Blades and Grace Moloney in signing on with The Lady Black Cats. The Wearsiders could add to their squad further before the new season kicks-off.
