Manchester City have completed the signing of Arsenal defender Laura Wienroither on a permanent deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.

The 26-year-old returns to The Joie Stadium following a successful loan spell with Manchester City in the second half of last season. She has penned a two-year deal with The Cityzens.

In her short loan spell with Manchester City, Wienroither made eight appearances for the club in all competitions while she also featured for The Cityzens in the inaugural World Sevens Football tournament.

After joining Manchester City on a permanent basis, Wienroither said “I really enjoyed the last six months, I feel like I’ve settled in well. I really like the girls and I really like the staff, so when the opportunity came up that I could stay, I didn’t have to think twice, it was a no-brainer for me.

“I think it’s a good group of people here. Everyone is just looking out for each other and I’m honestly so happy to be staying here.

“This club is made to win titles, to win trophies and I’m here to do that. The team definitely has the qualities and potential to do that, and we do have a very successful future ahead.”

Wienroither is Manchester City’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
