Sunderland have completed the signing of Manchester United forward Keira Barry on a loan deal until the end of the year.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Lady Black Cats this evening.
Barry is a product of the Manchester United academy system. She made her senior debut for The Red Devils in a Subway Women’s League Cup Group Stage match against Sheffield United in December 2022. Barry spent time on loan at Crystal Palace in the 2023/2024 season but injury restricted her to just one appearance. The Eagles were Barclays WSL2 title winners that year.
After joining Sunderland on loan, Barry said “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get going. It’s really surprised me how inclusive everything is. It feels like one big team, and the facilities are really good, so I’m excited to use them.
“Mel’s [Reay] ambitions for the club and how she wants to play suit me quite well for what I want to achieve this season. She wants me to play attacking football, which is exactly how I want to play.”
Barry could make her Sunderland debut when the club contest their Barclays WSL2 opener at Sheffield United on Friday evening.
