Arsenal defender Leah Williamson has signed a new contract with the club.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.

The 29-year-old Milton Keynes-born centre-back is very much Arsenal through and through. She joined the club’s Centre of Excellence at the age of nine and she has been with The Gunners ever since. Williamson made her senior debut as a 17-year-old and she has gone on to establish herself as an all-time Arsenal legend.

The defender has made 282 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions in which she has scored 17 goals. The player has won every honour with The Gunners, lifting nine trophies in her time in North London. Williamson has helped Arsenal to UEFA Women’s Champions League and FIFA Women’s Champions Cup glory in the last 12 months.

After signing her new deal with Arsenal, Williamson said “This club is steeped in history. To be part of it, to be shaped by it brings me pride like you’d never believe.

“I’ve been lucky to share the pitch with legends. We’ve stood side-by-side home and away to keep pushing for more because we don’t stop dreaming and there are chapters still to write. Let’s write them together.”

Williamson will be hoping to add at least one more medal to her collection in the final weeks of the season with Arsenal still in the hunt for domestic and European silverware.
