Arsenal defender Laia Codina will leave the club upon the expiry of her contract in the summer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.

The 26-year-old Spanish centre-back joined Arsenal from Barcelona in summer 2023. Codina has gone on to make 58 appearances for The Gunners in all competitions in which she has scored four goals. Codina has won the UEFA Women’s Champions League, FiFA Women’s Champions Cup and Subway Women’s League Cup in her time in North London.

With Codina’s contract set to expire next month, it has been determined that she will take on a fresh challenge in 2026/2027.

Codina’s confirmed departure comes just days after Arsenal announced that young goalkeeper Naomi Williams will be leaving the club this summer. Williams joined the Arsenal academy at the age of 13 and went on to graduate to the senior squad. The player has largely provided goalkeeping cover during her time in the Arsenal first team and she is now likely to pursue regular football at a professional level next season.

Codina’s final home fixture as an Arsenal player is on Wednesday when The Gunners play host to Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
