Chelsea have opted to extend the contract of goalkeeper Becky Spencer by a further year.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this morning.

The 35-year-old Jamaican international stopper was set to be out of contract at Stamford Bridge this summer but Chelsea have taken up a one-year extension option in the player’s contract.

Spencer is in her second spell with Chelsea. She initially represented the club between 2016 and 2018 before returning on a short-term loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur in March 2025. Chelsea re-acquired her services on a permanent basis last summer.

In her two spells with the South West Londoners, Spencer has won three league titles, two Adobe Women’s FA Cups and two Subway Women’s League Cups. She briefly represented the team in last season’s domestic treble-winning campaign.

Since returning to Chelsea, Spencer has provided competition in the club’s goalkeeping department. She has also shared her wealth of experience with the younger members of the squad. The player is highly thought of by The Blues and the club have therefore moved to extend her contract into 2026/2027.

Spencer is currently competing with Chelsea at the World Sevens Football event which is being held in Brentford.
