Liverpool have completed the signing of Bristol City defender Mari Ward.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this morning.
The 20-year-old joins Liverpool upon the conclusion of her contract with Bristol City.
Ward began her senior career in the FA Women’s National League system with Plymouth Argyle before joining Bristol City in summer 2022. The youngster was a member of the Bristol City squad that won the Barclays WSL2 title in 2022/2023 and she was in and around the side that featured in the top tier in the following season. In total, Ward made 86 appearances for Bristol City in all competitions, scoring six goals.
On the international stage, Ward has represented England at various youth levels up to and including under-23 level.
After joining Liverpool, Ward said “I’m so excited, Liverpool is such a huge club with such big history so to be a Liverpool player now is really special.
“I’m an attacking full-back who likes to get forward and get back, I like to create and join in attacks.
“I hope I can learn so much from the good players and good coaching staff around me and take it all in as much as possible, and then show what I can do on the pitch and reach my potential.
“I can’t wait to put on the Liverpool shirt for the first time, it’s going to be so special. And to walk out as a Liverpool player it’s still unreal to think about that so I can’t wait for that moment.”
Ward is Liverpool’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
