Liverpool goalkeeper Rafaela Borggräfe will remain on loan at German Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen for the 2026/2027 season.

The Reds announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

The 26-year-old former German youth international keeper spent the second half of last season on loan at the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion and that arrangement has now been extended for the entirity of the upcoming campaign.

Borggräfe joined Liverpool on a free transfer last summer after leaving German Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. She went on to make four appearances for The Reds in the first half of the season. The player was issued with a six-game ban following an incident which occurred in a pre-season camp. All parties quickly moved on from that incident.

After returning to her native Germany, Borggräfe made 10 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and she kept two clean sheets. She helped the club to record a respectable fifth-place finish in the German top flight last season. Bayer Leverkusen will now be looking to push for European football in the upcoming campaign.

With Borggräfe out on loan, Liverpool are expected to bolster their goalkeeping department before the new Barclays Women’s Super League campaign gets underway.
