Sunderland midfielder Marissa Sheva has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The Lady Black Cats announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 29-year-old was set to be out of contract this summer but she has now agreed to stay with Sunderland for at least another 12 months.
The Republic of Ireland international midfielder joined Sunderland off the back of a spell with National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Portland Thorns in March 2025. Sheva made 19 appearances for the Wearsiders in Barclays WSL2 last season in which she scored one goal. She helped Sunderland to record an eighth-place finish in Barclays WSL2.
Sheva is an experienced member of the Sunderland side and the club have therefore moved to retain her services for the 2026/2027 season.
After signing on again with Sunderland for the upcoming campaign, Sheva said “I’m delighted to be extending my time at Sunderland. I’ve grown a lot at the club, and I’m grateful for the chance to keep representing this badge. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of our fans again this season. Let’s get to work.”
