Burnley have completed the signing of AFC Bournemouth defender Jessica Hennessy on a one-year deal.
The Clarettes announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 24-year-old defender has signed a one-year contract at Turf Moor.
Hennessy started her senior playing career in her native Republic of Ireland with SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division club Athlone Town. The player then joined Shamrock Rovers before signing for Nottingham Forest in 2024. Hennessy was a member of Nottingham Forest’s FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title-winning side before she moved to AFC Bournemouth last summer where she won the FA Women’s National League Cup.
The player will now test herself in the English second tier with Burnley.
After joining Burnley, Hennessy said “I’m extremely grateful. I think this is a brilliant club that I’m so lucky to be at, and I’m absolutely buzzing.
“Getting up to WSL2 was a goal for me, so to be here is massive for my career and the club’s overall goals align with mine.
“I give everything I’ve got, 100% all the time. I play with my heart on my sleeve for whoever I’m playing for and whoever I’m playing with.
“How passionate I am when I’m on the field is one of my biggest attributes, and I can be quite aggressive as well, which I think is a good thing.”
Hennessy’s arrival comes on a day which has seen forward Claudia Mummery-Walker sign a new two-year deal with Burnley with the option of an additional year.
