Birmingham City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Blues earlier today.

The 29-year-old returns to the club where she started her senior career. Baggaley initially joined Birmingham City at academy level before making her senior debut for the club in May 2014. Baggaley spent four years in Blues’ senior squad before joining Bristol City in 2018. The keeper spent three years at Bristol City before enjoying a two-year spell at Manchester United. She then joined Brighton & Hove Albion in summer 2023 where she remained until leaving the club earlier this summer.

On the international stage, Baggaley has been in and around the England senior squad in recent times, although she still awaits her senior debut for the Lionesses.

After returning to Birmingham City, Baggaley said “When you start your career somewhere, you always have a soft spot for it. Birmingham helped build the foundations for my career and hopefully now I can give a little bit back.

“The club has been through so many different stages over the last few years, but it’s clear how much Birmingham has invested in the women’s team and I’m really excited to be part of that.”

Baggaley is Birmingham City’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
