Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Chloe Peplow has joined Reading according to reports on The Royals’ official website.
The 22-year-old moves to The Madejski Stadium on a free transfer after being one of 11 players released by former club Spurs earlier this summer.
Peplow spent two seasons with Spurs in which she made 16 appearances for the North Londoners in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The player becomes Reading boss Kelly Chambers’ fourth signing of the summer following the recent additions of Natasha Dowie, Gemma Evans and Faye Bryson.
Despite her young age, Peplow has plenty of experience in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The midfielder started out with Birmingham City where she made a handful of top flight appearances before helping Brighton & Hove Albion secure Barclays FA Women’s Super League football. Peplow was a regular for The Seagulls in their first top flight campaign in 2018/2019.
Peplow also brings international experience with her to Reading. She was a member of the England Under-20 side which finished in third place at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup France 2018 while she has also previously represented The Young Lionesses at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
Reading lost the services of key midfielder Angharad James earlier this summer and Peplow could now help new manager Chambers fill that gap.
