New Durham deals for Bradley, Achterhof and Johnson

Durham have today announced the news that Dee Bradley, Iris Achterhof and Ali Johnson have all agreed contract extensions with the club.

The trio have all signed one-year deals at Maiden Castle as they took the total number of contract renewals at Durham this summer up to 15.

Durham first announced Bradley’s contract extension. The American joined The Wildcats in January and she made six substitute appearances in the FA Women’s Championship, impressing manager Lee Sanders in the process. Bradley is primarily a defender but she offers her manager versatility across the back and in the middle of the pitch.

The second player confirmed to have signed a new deal with Durham was Dutch forward Achterhof. The 24-year-old played just 22 minutes of last season before sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Achterhof has now returned to fitness and she is ready to repay the faith which manager Sanders has offered to her with the new contract.

Finally, Durham confirmed that full-back Johnson has signed new terms with them for 2021/2022. The 22-year-old moved to the North East in March on a short term deal after leaving Blackburn Rovers. Durham boss Sanders has long been an admirer of the player and he has shown no hesitation in keeping Johnson at Maiden Castle for the coming season.

Durham will again be pushing for promotion this season after running champions Leicester City close last season. The Wildcats ended the campaign eight points adrift in second but they were neck and neck with The Foxes for most of the campaign.
