Teenage defender Coan joins Blackburn Rovers after leaving Everton

Blackburn Rovers have completed the permanent signing of teenage defender Hannah Coan according to reports on their official website.

The 19-year-old moves to The Sir Tom Finney Stadium on a free transfer after leaving former club Everton at the end of last season.

Coan previously spent time on loan with Blackburn Rovers last season. She made seven appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Championship during the second half of the campaign. The player impressed manager Gemma Donnelly enough to be handed a permanent deal.

After completing her permanent move to Blackburn Rovers, Coan said “I’m really excited to be signing here.

“I came here towards the end of last season on loan and really enjoyed my time here so I’m really happy to be back.”

Coan is a product of the Everton academy system. She went on to make her senior debut for The Blue Girls during the 2019/2020 season in an FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixture against Leicester City. The player made a handful of appearances in Everton’s matchday squad for Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures but she never featured for the club in the top tier.

The defender joined Sheffield United on loan in the first half of last season before later moving to Blackburn Rovers on a temporary basis.
