Highly-rated Brighton & Hove Albion defender Maya Le Tissier has signed a new deal with the club until summer 2023 according to reports on The Seagulls’ official website.
The 19-year-old Guernsey-born centre-back was one of the shining lights for Hope Powell’s side last season and she is being tipped to be a future England senior international.
Le Tissier featured in every game for Brighton & Hove Albion in last season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League, helping the club to record their highest-ever finish in the professional game.
The defender’s progress will undoubtedly have been monitored by other clubs but Le Tissier has today provided Brighton & Hove Albion with a real boost ahead of the new season by committing her future to them for the next two years.
After signing her new deal, Le Tissier said “I’m really pleased to be staying at the club long-term. With the profile of the club and the WSL increasing it’s a great time to be part of what we’re trying to achieve at Brighton. We’re also moving into a fantastic new training facility at the American Express Elite Performance Centre in the next few days, which I think is massive for the club and our development as players.
“I can’t wait for Sunday’s game and to see all our fans again at the Amex. Hopefully we can start the season with a good performance and three points.”
Le Tissier will again be hoping to impress when her side face West Ham United in that season opener at The Amex Stadium on Sunday.
