Birmingham City sign former Chelsea academy defender Suttie

Birmingham City have completed the signing of former Chelsea academy defender Arabella Suttie on a one-year deal according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

The 18-year-old has spent five years on the books of the South West Londoners. She was a regular in their WSL Academy team but never got the opportunity to pull on a Chelsea shirt at senior level.

It has today been confirmed that Suttie has signed a deal with Birmingham City for the coming season following a successful trial. The youngster has become Blues boss Scott Booth’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.

After completing her move to St Andrew’s Suttie said “I can’t wait. It will be really good to play for Blues and get some exposure in the WSL.

“The Head Coach said he was impressed with me and how I have gelled into the team, but also that he knows what I need to work on and how I can improve.

“Everyone at Blues is so nice and the girls are all friendly. There is a great atmosphere here and we are all going to fight for each other throughout the season.”

Suttie could be included in the Birmingham City squad for their opening fixture of the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League season at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
