Manchester United pair Middleton-Patel and Williams join Blackburn Rovers

Manchester United pair Safia Middleton-Patel and Chloe Williams have joined Blackburn Rovers on dual registration terms according to reports on the FA Women’s Championship club’s official website.

The youngsters go straight into the Rovers squad for this afternoon’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Both players are members of Manchester United’s WSL Academy side. Goalkeeper Middleton-Patel has made one appearance for The Red Devils in this season’s WSL Academy League while midfielder Williams has appeared on four occasions, contributing three goals.

Goalkeeper Middleton-Patel is yet to make an appearance for Manchester United at senior level. The 17-year-old has represented Wales at Under-17 and Under-19 levels on the international stage. The youngster will provide goalkeeping competition for Alex Brooks and Eleanor Heeps during her time with Rovers.

Midfielder Williams joined Manchester United from FA Women’s National League club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2019 and has been heavily involved with the Under-21s. The player has briefly appeared on the bench for The Red Devils at senior level. Williams has been a regular in the Welsh senior squad but is still awaiting her debut for Gemma Grainger’s side.

Blackburn Rovers go into their latest FA Women’s Championship game at Bristol City unbeaten in their last two league outings. Gemma Donnelly’s side recorded an excellent goalless draw at Liverpool last weekend.
