PREVIEW: Coventry United v Durham

The FA Women’s Championship’s bottom club Coventry United will be looking to kick-start their season when they welcome Durham to the Butts Park Arena this afternoon.

It has been a difficult start to the campaign for Coventry United who remain the only side yet to pick up maximum points. They sit rock bottom of the table with nine games played.

Last time out in the FA Women’s Championship, Coventry United fell to a 4-1 loss at Lewes. The two sides were level at half-time before the hosts stepped up in the second half. The Red and Greens signed some quality players in the summer but they are seemingly facing a real battle to remain in the second tier.

As for this afternoon’s visitors, Durham, their form has tailed off slightly after what was a positive start to the season. The Wildcats have lost their last four games in league and cup and have dropped behind title rivals Liverpool and London City Lionesses in the race for promotion. Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool could be vital in what happens between now and the end of the campaign. This game will be seen as the perfect opportunity for Lee Sanders’ side to bounce back but they will need to be aware of Coventry United’s goalscoring threats.
