PREVIEW: Manchester United v Aston Villa

Manchester United will be hoping to end the year with a third consecutive victory in all competitions when Aston Villa are the visitors to the Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

The Red Devils have beaten Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton away from home in the last seven days and Marc Skinner’s side will now be looking to right some wrongs on home soil.

Manchester United end the year without the services of defender Martha Harris and midfielder Jackie Groenen who remain sidelined with their respective injuries while youngster Carrie Jones is also out. Head coach Skinner is likely to bring several players back into the side after rotating his squad for the midweek trip to Everton in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward will offer late fitness tests to defender Sarah Mayling and midfielder Remi Allen with the pair struggling with knocks while Ramona Petzelberger is recovering from illness but could make the squad. Ward will name virtually a completely different XI to the side which lost 1-0 to Blackburn Rovers in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in midweek.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester United and Aston Villa kicks-off at noon on Sunday. Tickets for the match can be purchased by clicking here.
