Brighton & Hove Albion complete double signing of Swedish pair Zigiotti Olme and Kullberg

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the double signing of Swedish pair Julia Zigiotti Olme and Emma Kullberg.

The duo, who are both senior Swedish internationals, have signed 18-month deals with the Sussex club subject to international clearance being obtained.

The arrivals of Zigiotti Olme and Kullberg come as no real surprise with reports in the Swedish media last month suggesting that the players were set to join Brighton & Hove Albion. The Sussex club informed FAWSL Full-Time of the completed deals via an official club press release yesterday.

Both players most recently represented Swedish club BK Häcken and complete moves to Brighton & Hove Albion following the expiry of their contracts at their former club.

Zigiotti Olme is an attacking midfield player who has been capped by Sweden on 17 occasions at senior level while defender Kullberg has nine caps to her name. The pair were members of the BK Häcken side which finished the 2021 Damallsvenskan season as runners-up while they were league winners with the club in their former identity of Göteborg FC.

After completing her first business of the January transfer window, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Hope Powell said “We’re delighted to welcome Julia and Emma to the club.

“They are both talented, athletic and versatile players with lots of experience at domestic and international level. I think they are going to be a really big asset to our squad and just as importantly, they are lovely people, who I think will fit in really well in our group of players.

“They are really keen to play in England, they are ready for the challenge of competing in one of the strongest domestic leagues in the world. We look forward to working with them and seeing what they can bring to the team.”

Brighton & Hove Albion return to action following the international break with a Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at home to Manchester City on Sunday 9 January 2022.
