Everton manager Jean-Luc Vasseur has left his role as first team manager after a little over three months in the job, the club have reported.
The 53-year-old was appointed into the role on 29 October 2021, replacing former boss Willie Kirk who had been sacked following the club’s poor start to the season. Vasseur picked up a team which was low in confidence and not fulfilling their potential and there has been little improvement during his time in charge.
Vasseur has taken charge of Everton on six occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The Blue Girls have taken just five points from those games, their only victory being a 1-0 away success at Leicester City. Vasseur leaves Everton in 10th position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table, some distance behind where the club want to be following a period of investment.
The Frenchman was victorious in his final match as Everton boss. The Blue Girls won 4-0 at third tier club Huddersfield Town in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
Vasseur’s assistants Frédéric Piquionne and Franck Plaine have also left their positions.
Everton have appointed Chris Roberts and Claire Ditchburn to take charge of immediate first team affairs on an interim basis. A further update will be provided by the club in due course.
