PREVIEW: Arsenal v Birmingham City

Arsenal will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table further when they face bottom club Birmingham City at the LV Bet Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners are currently five points clear at the summit, although Jonas Eidevall’s side have played more games than all of their title rivals.

Arsenal go into this weekend’s fixture against struggling Birmingham City off the back of an impressive 4-0 home victory over Reading in midweek. That game came too early for England international centre-back Lotte Wubben-Moy but she could again be assessed ahead of the Birmingham City fixture. Arsenal head coach Eidevall is not thought to have any fresh injury concerns to contend with.

Birmingham City’s interim head coach Darren Carter continues to juggle his squad as a result of ongoing injuries. The Blues remain without long term absentees Arabella Suttie and Cecilie Sandvej while Emily Ramsey, Sarah Ewens and Louanne Worsey are also out.

The reverse fixture saw Birmingham City defeat Arsenal 2-0 at St Andrew’s, a result which remains the biggest shock of the season so far. Arsenal will be looking for revenge this weekend while Carter’s Blues are chasing an unlikely double.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Birmingham City kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday.
