West Ham United v Manchester United – Stat Attack

Manchester United will be hoping to further cement a UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification spot in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when they travel to The Chigwell Construction Stadium to face West Ham United on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils have bounced back well from last month’s back-to-back defeats to Manchester City with Marc Skinner’s side having recorded consecutive wins against Leicester City and Reading. They have a three-point cushion in their race for European qualification.

Goalscorers have moved on

The two clubs have both gone through transitions since last season’s meetings in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Another classic on the cards?

Two of the three Barclays FA Women’s Super League meetings between West Ham United and Manchester United have produced five or more goals. The first meeting in 2019/2020 saw West Ham United win 3-2 at Rush Green while last season’s fixture in East London finished 4-2 in Manchester United’s favour. This fixture has a habit of producing fireworks.

Late goals are a theme

Five of the 11 goals scored in West Ham United’s home clashes with Manchester United have been netted in the 80th minute or later. This fixture has produced late drama in the last two seasons and expect the same this time around with both sides looking up in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
