PREVIEW: Manchester City v Reading

Manchester City will be aiming to take another step towards the Barclays FA Women’s Super League’s top three when they face Reading at The Academy Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Cityzens currently occupy fifth position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table but Gareth Taylor’s side are bang in form and victory over Kelly Chambers’ Reading in their next match would see Manchester City climb another position into fourth place.

Manchester City head coach Taylor has confirmed that defender Ruby Mace will be available for selection against Reading. Goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck is also fit following a nasty collision in the game at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The Cityzens remain without long term absentees Karima Benameur Taieb, Karen Bardsley, Steph Houghton, Esme Morgan and Chloe Kelly.

Attacking pair Amalie Eikeland and Natasha Dowie missed Reading’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday. The condition of those two players is not currently known ahead of The Royals’ trip to The Academy Stadium. Forward Brooke Chaplen continues to be sidelined for an indefinite period as a result of a bone tumour in her leg.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester City and Reading kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening. Tickets for the match remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
