Saturday’s North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur has been postponed due to COVID-19 cases in the visitors’ camp.
The pair were set to go into battle in-front of a sizeable five-figure crowd at the Emirates Stadium but the game can no longer go ahead.
The fixture had been in doubt since Wednesday with Tottenham Hotspur’s midweek match at Chelsea having been called off for the same reason.
Arsenal announced the postponement of this weekend’s North London derby just a short time ago via a post on their official club website. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course, however, the club have indicated that the game will still take place at the Emirates Stadium with all tickets remaining valid. Fans who cannot attend the rearranged game will be able to claim a refund.
The postponement now means that Arsenal will have additional time to prepare for the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie at VfL Wolfsburg on Thursday evening. The two clubs battled to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
Chelsea could become the new leaders at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table this weekend should they defeat Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
