Charlton Athletic defender Anna Filbey bemoaned her side’s lack of good fortune as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at London City Lionesses this afternoon.
In a game of real fine lines, the hosts scored at the end of both halves as they subjected Charlton Athletic to a fifth defeat in six games.
It could have been a completely different story had Katie Robinson’s early effort have found the corner of the net and when speaking to FAWSL Full-Time after the match, Charlton Athletic defender Filbey bemoaned her side’s bad luck.
“I think it’s a frustrating one again but I don’t think that we can knock the effort of the girls,” Filbey said. “Again, we haven’t found the back of the net.
“Some of our patterns of play were excellent but the luck just hasn’t fell for us. It is a frustrating one.”
Both of London City Lionesses’ goals were scored by forward Karin Muya. The first saw her tap home unmarked from a couple of yards while the second goal was a one-on-one. Filbey said that she takes the blame for both goals.
She said “They were my fault. When you play out from the back, you take risks and you are going to make mistakes.
“We have got the international break now so we will go away and regroup, take a look at ourselves and we will go into the last two games and try to finish the season on a high.”
Charlton Athletic return to action after the international break with an FA Women’s Championship fixture at Blackburn Rovers.
