Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Bethan Davies has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Sheffield United ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old has impressed with her performances in the third tier for The Terriers and Sheffield United boss Neil Redfearn has therefore swooped for her services.
Davies is well-known to Blades boss Redfearn with the pair having previously worked together at former second tier side Doncaster Rovers Belles. Davies will add some real competition for Sheffield United’s goalkeeping jersey with the club having recently lost first-choice goalkeeper Fran Kitching who has opted for a fresh challenge.
After joining Sheffield United, Davies said “I’m really excited. I’m happy to be coming back up to the Championship and I can’t wait to get started.
“Everyone’s made me feel really welcome. It’s nice to have Redders as manager, working with Harry and Nina welcoming me into the goalkeeper’s union, I’m really enjoying it so far.”
Davies has become Sheffield United boss Redfearn’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The Blades boss has also acquired the services of Maria Francis-Jones, Sophie Barker, Rachel Brown and Sophie Haywood during the close season. With 17 senior players contracted with the club for this season, Redfearn’s recruitment looks to be nearing completion.
