Liverpool’s teenage defender Parry signs professional deal

Liverpool’s teenage defender Lucy Parry has signed her first professional contract with the club according to reports on The Reds’ official website.

The 18-year-old has come through the Liverpool academy system to feature for the first team. Parry has a very bright future ahead of her and The Reds have therefore moved to retain her services on a professional basis.

Parry was involved in 14 of Liverpool’s matchday squads last season as the club went on to win the Barclays Women’s Championship title and promotion back to the top flight. She made her only league appearance in the 2-1 defeat at Lewes on the final day. The teenager will now be hoping to push on after agreeing her professional deal at Prenton Park.

After signing on with The Reds, Parry said “I’m delighted, it’s really exciting and I can’t wait to get started this season really.

“Becoming a professional is definitely something I’ve been working towards, coming up through the academy it’s a goal I’ve had but to get it done and signed feels amazing.

“I’ve been a fan all my life, my family are Liverpool fans so when I put the shirt on it means everything to me.

“Last season meant a lot, we had that goal to get promotion and when we did it and did it well, we stuck together as a team all the way through.”

Parry’s new deal comes off the back of first-choice goalkeeper Rachael Laws signing a contract extension with the club on Monday.
