Sheffield United youngster Charley Docherty has signed a new contract with the club for the upcoming season.
The Blades announced the news via a post on their official club website late yesterday afternoon.
Docherty has been in and around the Sheffield United first team over the past couple of seasons. The player made four appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season. Docherty offers head coach Neil Redfearn several different options with the player capable of filling defensive, midfield or attacking positions. The youngster will now be hoping to get more minutes under her belt after signing a new deal with the South Yorkshire club.
After extending her contract with The Blades, Docherty said “I’m buzzing for another year with this club. I feel like I have a lot to give this season following a good pre-season for me. I’ll definitely be pushing for a regular place and I’m just excited for what’s to come.
“As a team, we’ve had a great pre-season, we’ve been dominating our matches. I think we’ve got a really good group of girls and I hope that a good pre-season translates into a great season for us.”
Sheffield United kick-off the 2022/2023 campaign against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Sunday.
