Chelsea defender Jorja Fox has joined the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news this afternoon via an official club press release from Chelsea. The 18-year-old has signed a new three-year deal with The Blues prior to completing her loan switch.
Fox has spent the last decade on Chelsea’s books. She has successfully graduated to the first team from The Blues’ academy system. The full-back was handed her senior debut for Chelsea in their 4-0 victory over Aston Villa at The Poundland Bescot Stadium in the second half of the 2020/2021 campaign.
The youngster was loaned to Barclays Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic to gain some regular first team playing experience last season. Fox made 11 appearances for The Addicks as they finished the season in fifth place in the Barclays Women’s Championship table.
Fox’s latest loan move sees her join a Brighton & Hove Albion side which hold long term ambitions of establishing themselves as a top four club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The temporary switch should allow the teenager to get minutes under her belt week in, week out.
Chelsea have now sent three of their young players out on loan to gain experience in 2022/2023.
