Manchester City midfielder Keira Walsh has completed a move to Spanish giants FC Barcelona for what is believed to be a world-record transfer fee.
Barcelona announced the completion of the transfer via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.
Walsh has signed a three-year deal with Barcelona while it is thought that the Spanish club have paid around £400,000 to secure her services. The midfielder will link-up with her former Manchester City teammate Lucy Bronze at the Catalan club.
Manchester City signed Walsh back in 2014 and she has played her football at The Academy Stadium ever since. The midfielder has won a whole host of domestic trophies with The Cityzens including the treble in 2016 and 2017. Walsh made 189 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions in which she scored eight goals.
On the international stage, Walsh was one of England’s unsung heroes of their UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 success in July while the player picked up her 50th senior cap for the Lionesses in a 10-0 victory over Luxembourg last night. She is a key member of the England midfield.
Walsh is set to link-up with her new teammates at Barcelona in the coming days with international duty having come to an end.
