Former West Ham United keeper Moore joins Lewes

Former West Ham United goalkeeper Emily Moore has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Lewes on a free transfer.

The Rookettes announced the signing of the player via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

Moore has joined Lewes after leaving former club West Ham United at the end of last season. Moore spent the second half of the 2021/2022 campaign at The Chigwell Construction Stadium but failed to make an appearance for The Hammers. She did provide reliable goalkeeping cover and was an unused substitute for eight matches in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Prior to her move to West Ham United, the 23-year-old had played her football in her native Canada. She is a graduate of the UBC Thunderbirds college programme. Moore has been tipped to become a future Canadian international, although she is yet to receive a senior call-up.

Moore’s new club Lewes now have four goalkeepers on their books. The Rookettes’ latest signing will compete with Sophie Whitehouse, Laura Hartley and Frankie Angel for the first-choice jersey at The Dripping Pan.

Moore has been handed the number 26 shirt by Lewes and she could go straight into the squad for their home fixture against London City Lionesses this afternoon.
