Everton announce sell-out for midweek meeting with Leicester City

Everton have announced the news that Thursday’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Leicester City at Walton Hall Park has sold out.

The Blue Girls will welcome a record crowd to their home ground just days after the club’s historic 3-0 Merseyside derby victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

Both of Everton’s opening two matches in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League have been away from home therefore Thursday night’s meeting with Leicester City offers the club’s fans an opportunity to watch their summer signings in competitive action for the very first time at Walton Hall Park.

The appointment of new manager Brian Sørensen over the summer has brought fresh optimism to Everton following a difficult campaign in 2021/2022. Sørensen has a good track record at developing young talent while he has a clear vision and playing style for the Merseyside club. While Sørensen’s project at Everton is a long term one, there are already early signs that he is going to be successful in his time in England.

Everton’s latest opponents Leicester City arrive on Merseyside having lost their opening two matches. Lydia Bedford’s side are very hard-working and will present the home side with a tough battle. It will certainly be a game of contrasting playing styles.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Everton and Leicester City kicks-off at 6.30pm on Thursday evening.
