Durham defender Sarah Robson says that the club are due a victory over latest opponents Crystal Palace.
The two sides meet in the Barclays Women’s Championship at Maiden Castle on Sunday. Durham are searching for a first win in three games against The Eagles after losing both of their league encounters against the South Londoners last season.
When speaking to FAWSL Full-Time ahead of the match, Durham defender Robson said that a victory for The Wildcats over Crystal Palace is long overdue and that the team are determined to develop and grow.
“Last season was a season where we learnt a lot about ourselves,” Robson said. “We had a lot of pressure within our dressing room to get promoted and we fell flat after nights like Wednesday (against Manchester United).
“We now have a different group of people in there that want to be better and want to improve and going into Sunday, that’s what we are focused on. We owe Palace one, they beat us twice last season, beat us well and celebrated like they had won the World Cup.
“We know what it is like, we have to be on our game. It is a massive game on Sunday but we know that we are the underdogs against them.”
Following a tricky start to the new season, Durham are now unbeaten in three matches in all competitions. Robson and the team are focused on continuing to build momentum this weekend.
She said “We need to keep winning, we had a good win against Lewes and a good result against Manchester United.
“It is just about building momentum. The changing room is very different to what it has been in previous years, a lot of experienced players have moved on and we’ve brought in youth. We need to make sure that these younger players are growing and developing. They are our future and we have to keep building on them.”
