PREVIEW: Manchester United v Chelsea

One of the biggest games of the season so far in the Barclays Women’s Super League takes place on Sunday when champions Chelsea travel to the Leigh Sports Village to face in-form Manchester United.

Manchester United go into the match having won five out of five while they are yet to concede a goal. Meanwhile, Chelsea have recovered from a shock opening day defeat at Liverpool by winning their next five league games.

The Manchester United squad is in good shape going into the weekend. Head coach Marc Skinner confirmed in his pre-match press conference that defender Ona Batlle could be available for selection but long term absentee Aoife Mannion remains sidelined.

Chelsea make the trip to the North West without the services of forward Fran Kirby who continues to recover from her recent illness. Defender Maren Mjelde is still recovering from a hamstring injury while Jelena Čanković is back in training but is not yet fit enough to return. Midfielder Melanie Leupolz remains on maternity leave while Czech international midfielder Kateřina Svitková is rated doubtful due to illness.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester United and Chelsea kicks-off at 6.45pm on Sunday evening. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
