PREVIEW: Manchester City v Manchester United

Local bragging rights will be on the line on Sunday afternoon when Manchester City face bitter rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

The Cityzens have had a hold over their neighbours since Manchester United’s promotion to the top flight in 2019. However, The Red Devils arrive at the Etihad Stadium above Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League table and looking to create new history.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor could have a fully-fit squad available for selection this weekend. Both Lauren Hemp and Vicky Losada have regained full fitness after their respective injuries.

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner continues to be without defender Aoife Mannion who is still a few weeks away from returning to action following an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Forward Adriana Leon has been fighting off flu throughout this week but it is hoped that she will be fit to be part of the squad on Sunday.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester City and Manchester United is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon. A record crowd for a Manchester City women’s league fixture of around 43,000 is expected at the Etihad Stadium. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
