Liverpool complete the signing of Japanese international midfielder Nagano

Liverpool have completed the signing of Japanese international midfielder Fuka Nagano.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Liverpool this morning.

The 23-year-old joins The Reds from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club North Carolina Courage. Nagano had been with the American club since last July. The player has also represented Urawa Reds, Hyundai Red Steel Angels, Chifure AS Elfen Saitama and Mynavi Sendai.

On the international stage, Nagano is a senior international for Japan. She has made 27 appearances for her country, scoring two goals. The midfielder has won the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Nadeshiko at Under-17 and Under-20 levels.

After securing her move to Liverpool, Nagano said “I’m very happy to join such a great team and club. I’m really pleased to play for a club that has a great history.

“As part of the team, I’m ready to give my everything and willing to work as hard as I can.

“Yesterday was my first day coming to Liverpool and I can’t wait to see more of this lovely city already.”

Nagano becomes Liverpool’s third addition of the January transfer window following the recent signings of Gemma Bonner and Sofie Lundgaard.
