Bristol City complete loan signing of Manchester United midfielder Clinton

Bristol City have completed the signing of Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Robins announced news of the transfer via an update on their official club website this afternoon.

Clinton joined parent club Manchester United from Everton in the summer but the midfielder is still awaiting her debut for The Red Devils. Head coach Marc Skinner recently explained that Clinton’s first six months at Manchester United was a learning process and that the player would go out on loan for the second half of the season. That loan has now been agreed and Clinton will hope to help Bristol City to secure a return to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The England Under-23 international is rated very highly by Manchester United and is seen as a real prospect for the future. Should she impress in her spell with Bristol City, there is every chance that Clinton could play a role for her parent club next season.

After joining Bristol City, Clinton said “It’s nice to be here. There was a lot of back and forth but it’s great to get the deal over the line and get settled in.

“The ambition of the club was the main draw for me, to be honest. The facilities at The Robins High Performance Centre are even better in person – I didn’t expect it!

“Speaking to Lauren (Smith), she was a big part in my decision because of her ambition, the way she talks and how keen she was. I knew it was the right move for me and I couldn’t wait to get started.”

Clinton could make her Bristol City debut against Coventry United at The Robins High Performance Centre tomorrow afternoon.
