Spurs provide positive update on fitness of long-term absentee Simon

Tottenham Hotspur have today issued a video clip of forward Kyah Simon in the gym, just four-and-a-half months on from tearing her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

The 31-year-old Australian international sustained the injury during Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 victory over Reading in a FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage match at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on 2 October 2022.

Simon went under the surgeon’s knife before beginning a lengthy period of rehabilitation. The player faces a race against time to be fit for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, however, Simon is seemingly making good progress after returning to the gym. The player is likely to still be some weeks away from a return to the training pitch and ball work.

The forward is one of four Spurs players to be currently recovering from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Kit Graham, Ria Percival and Ellie Brazil are also in rehabilitation. Graham and Percival are thought to be well ahead of Simon with their recoveries and the pair could yet return to action this season.

Spurs have missed their long-term absentees. The North Londoners have lost their last seven games in the Barclays Women’s Super League and find themselves just three points above the relegation zone. Spurs travel to high-flying Manchester City for their next Barclays Women’s Super League fixture after the international break.
