‘I’ll be ready for Villa’ – There’s no injury says Chelsea forward Kerr

Chelsea forward Sam Kerr says that she will be fit to feature in the club’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie at Aston Villa on Sunday.

The player limped out of Australia’s 2-0 victory over England at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford last night.

With some huge games on the horizon, Chelsea cannot afford to lose the services of their star striker, however, Kerr was quick to play down her injury, insisting that she will be available for Sunday’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie at Aston Villa.

“I’ve jarred my knee a little bit but I’ll be ready for Villa on Sunday for sure,” Kerr said when discussing her injury in the post-match press conference.

The forward went on to explain that she is also nursing a sore foot and that her minutes are being carefully managed but she is not carrying any significant injury.

She said “There’s no injury. I’ve had a big few months and I’ve got a bit of a sore foot but it was about the bigger picture.

“There’s a World Cup coming and between the national team and Chelsea, we’ve tried to figure out the best plan for myself, which is best for both teams. This week, the best plan was to manage my load after a big month with Chelsea and the plan was always to play 90 minutes tonight.

“I’ll be good to go Sunday against Villa.”

Chelsea’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie against Aston Villa at The Poundland Bescot Stadium kicks-off at 2.15pm on Sunday afternoon.
